Ph.D. and Postdoc Position

The Probability group of the Department of Mathematics invites applications for one

Ph.D. Position

and a

Postdoc Position

in the group of Prof. Ioan Manolescu. Candidates will work on problems of statistical mechanics using probabilistic tools. Knowledge of French or German is desirable.

Duties include a moderate teaching load (exercise sessions) and occasional library service. We offer a friendly working environment, integration into the Swiss Doctoral Program of Mathematics, and an attractive salary.

Starting date: 1st of September 2018 (flexible).

Ph.D. Position

The Analysis group at the Department of Mathematics of the University of Fribourg (Switzerland) invites applications for a

Ph.D. Position

under the supervision of Prof. Stefan Wenger. The ideal candidate has a strong background in analysis and geometry and is familiar with at least one of the following areas: metric geometry, sub-Riemannian geometry, geometric measure theory, analysis on metric spaces.

We offer a friendly and supportive environment, a competitive salary, and integration in the Swiss Doctoral Program in Mathematics. The position carries a moderate teaching load. A certain degree of fluency in German or French after a period of adaptation will be required.
